  • Time to effective containment (not "we think"—actual containment)
  • Time to full situational awareness

This section should be uncomfortable to write. If it's not, you're not being honest enough.

Section 4: Business Context Integration

This is where you map security to actual business outcomes. Work with finance to understand:

  • What would a day of downtime cost for each critical system?
  • What's the regulatory impact of different data types being exposed?
  • What are the actual recovery time objectives (not what's documented—what the business needs)?

This section often reveals that organizations are over-protecting some systems while dangerously under-protecting others.
