It's not spooky lake month anymore, but for the last year and a half I've been writing and illustrating a spooky lake book. I have never written or illustrated a book before, so the process was intimidating to say the least. So when spooky lake month ended, I began my grueling journey of painting every day all day for the next four months. While this sounds like a bad thing, and it was stressful, I've never worked so consistently in my life. There was no way that I was able to procrastinate during this time because I knew that if I didn't finish each painting in the allotted time that I set aside for it, I wasn't going to finish the book in time. Even though I have a degree in art, I think I would have been bogged down by doubt at this point if it wasn't for that looming deadline. One of the weirdest parts of the book was that I painted the front cover first and the back cover last. And finally, on February 15th, after 1800 hours of painting, my mom helped me pack everything up to ship it to the publisher.
